monday night has seen the start of a new topic; a comparative study of colossians, ephesians, and philippians. rough notes are up here.
there is homework for the coming week:
read and compare phil 3:3-11, eph 3:1-14,
and col 3:1-12.
what is paul doing/saying in these passages?
find the similar phrases and themes.
any significant differences?
what does paul say about his audience?
what does paul say about god and god's work?

u.s. elections are over, and barack obama has been elected the 44th president.
it is worth noting the moral progress the u.s. has made regarding racism in the past 40 years; this graphic makes the point beautifully.
as a church, we have some responsibilities regarding the presidency. for starters, we are to be in subjection to the governing authorities; romans 13:1 says, "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God." more to the point, we should pray for our new president. 1 tim 2:1-4:
1. First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
2. for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
3. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4. who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
so...if by the off chance mr obama bumps into this website, congratulations from salina street church; we will be praying for you.
