SALINA STREET CHURCH GIVING POLICY

Salina Street Church considers financial giving an important part and privilege of Christianity.  As such, members of Salina Street Church are encouraged to give money, time, and assets to organizations and opportunities that are consistent with Christian goals.  Salina Street Church will also engage in such giving corporately.

Salina Street Church considers giving to the local church to be a Biblical expression of appreciation and obedience to God.  Per the Salina Street Church Constitution, contributions made to Salina Street Church may be suggested for specific purposes by the giver, but final designation is the exclusive domain of the church leadership.

Salina Street Church will also give to external organizations and individuals who share the goals and purposes of the church.  Giving is based on perceived need and/or opportunity as recognized by the church leadership; members of Salina Street Church are encouraged to present candidates and ministries to the church.

Evaluation of potential gift recipients will be made prior to making a gift by the church leadership.  Personal knowledge and observance of the candidate ministry or person is the preferred method of evaluating worthiness, but external references will be accepted in select cases.  In cases where no personal knowledge of the recipient is available, effort will be made to develop a relationship suitable for effective evaluation of worthiness.  Evaluation will be based on financial need and the ability of the recipient to fulfill the religious purposes of Salina Street Church; repeat or on-going gifts will be tied to effective use of resources.  Most gifts will likely be made to non-profit organizations, but some circumstances may merit gifts to individuals.  Gifts will on occasion be made to individuals or organizations outside the United States of America (e.g. theological students in Kenya) based on the same criteria.  There is no requirement to formally request a gift from Salina Street Church, nor is there a formal application process to request or receive a gift.
