Salina Street Church Expectations Of Membership

Giving:

It is expected that every member of Salina Street Church be committed to giving. The Bible instructs us to give of our lives and finances with generosity, motivated out of a desire to serve others and participate in the work of God.

No expectation is laid upon members to give financially to Salina Street Church. However, generous financial giving should be considered both an obligation and privilege by the believer.

It is absolutely expected that every member of Salina Street Church gives of their time and life to other members of Salina Street Church and to the ministries of the church. This is a significant commitment and should in many ways define how life is spent by every member. We as a family are expected to take active roles in one another's lives and in representing Christ pro-actively to the world.

With this expectation of giving, it is expected that members of Salina Street Church are active and regular participants in the meetings of Salina Street Church. Hebrews commands us to "not forsake the gathering of the brethren," and this expectation should be maintained. Biblical giving is personal, involved, and hospitable.

Notes: If you aren't excited about giving, find a ministry or cause you can be excited about giving to and start. If you are having trouble finding a ministry or charity, increase your knowledge or involvement in an area - you probably will end up with enough concern to help you enjoy giving.

Purity:

Christ commands that the Church remain pure to the standards laid out in the Bible. This includes abstaining from violence, idolatry, sexual contact outside of marriage, and other biblically prohibited activities.

When a member of Salina Street Church has been found in sin, he or she should be confronted according to Christ's command in Matt 18:15-17 (NASB):

"If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. "But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED. "If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

Salina Street Church will share details of personal activities in these cases, for the sake of the restoration of the offending brother/sister and for the continued purity of the Church (1 Cor 5:6-8).
